Decorations & Honors

The following decorations and honors are awarded by the governing national bodies of the York Rite, and are not to be confused with other honorary and invitational bodies operating under the umbrella of the York Rite.

Chapter


ggcdsaDistinguished Service Medal (bronze)

This Medal is given in recognition of the recipient’s outstanding and meritorious service to Royal Arch Masonry other than that of holding Masonic Office as a Past Grand High Priest or as a Grand Chapter Officer

Distinguished Service Medal (silver)

The General Grand Chapter Distinguished Service Medal in Silver is presented for the performance of outstanding service for the York Rite, but particularly for Royal Arch Masonry, within a particular York Rite Region. Nominations may be made by any Royal Arch Mason or by a Grand Chapter, submitted through the Deputy General Grand High Priest for the York Rite Region where the proposed recipient holds his membership. Such applications shall be forwarded by the Deputy General Grand High Priest to the General Grand Secretary for action by the General Grand Royal Arch Council. Nominations shall be accompanied by a resume of the Royal Arch Service of the proposed recipient and a brief biographical statement. This award is presented only once during each Triennium to a Royal Arch Mason of one of the affiliated Grand Jurisdictions of each York Rite Region. Not more than three such Silver Medals also may be presented at the Triennial Convocation from selection at large.

Distinguished Service Medal (gold)

The General Grand Chapter Distinguished Service Medal in Gold is presented by the General Grand Chapter for outstanding national or international achievement in the Arts and Sciences, in Public Service, and in Business and the Learned Professions. Not more than one medal may be presented each year.

Council

Cryptic Mason of the Year

One medal each year presented to a Cryptic Mason by the General Grand Council for exceptional and meritorious service to Cryptic Masonry above and beyond the call of duty. No Past or Present Grand Master.

Youth Leadership

One medal presented annually in each Jurisdiction affiliated with General Grand Council to a nominee who shall be a leader in one of the youth organizations recognized by the General Grand Council who has displayed exceptional and meritorious service above and beyond the call of duty , namely: Order of DeMolay, Order of Rainbow for Girls or Order of Job’s Daughters.

Commandery

KCT-238x300[1]Knight Commander of the Temple (KCT)

Knight Commander of the Temple (abbreviated KCT) is the second highest decorationof the Grand Encampment, and was adopted in the 1991-1994 Triennium.  One or more Sir Knights may be honored each year in a jurisdiction with this award, recognizing the honoree’s service to the causes of Templary.

 

 

 

 

 

kgc[1]Knight Grand Cross of the Temple  (GCT)

There is a limit of twenty seven Templars not including Grand Encampment elected officers and Past Grand Masters of Grand Encampment. The GCT is the highest decoration awarded by the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar.

 

 

 

Knight Templar Cross of Honor (KTCH)

The Knight Templar Cross of Honor is the highest honor awarded  by the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar. It is  awarded “only for exceptional and meritorious service rendered to the Order, far beyond the call of duty, and beyond the service usually expected of an officer or member.”  In deciding upon the award, precedents shall be entirely ignored and each case shall be decided upon its own unusual merits.  No posthumous award shall be made, and no present or past elected Grand Officer of a Grand Commandery shall be eligible for the award.
